Very old Philips light string from the 1940's

It's a miracle that this still works! I certainly won't be using it though as The rubber insulation under the cloth covering has just disintegrated over time. The set is amazingly complete, even with what I assume is its original dodgy plug. Interestingly it features some paper flowers which go between the lamps and the holders. The lamps that came with have quite a lot of lacquer peel, although luckily somewhere I have a box of spares for this string.
