Osram GEC 4' 40W Batten
Don't know the model. Removed this from a mates garage a couple of years ago, had been disconnected for years. Rather crudely made with a low power factor circuit, probably aimed at the domestic market.

Hopefully I'll finally get round to restoring it soon.

I've seen one of these somewhere before, can't remember where tho. That'll clean up just fine!

I think Rob might have one! I'd certainly never seen one before either, uses standard push on lampholders bolted to the end caps.

I uploaded a photo a few weeks back where I was relamping some of these!! Although the ones I worked on were HPF! Had the same black ballasts!!

Yes I fit an Osram quiktronic ballast for a short while but changed back to magnetic later and fully restored it. The original ballast became annoyingly noisy and eventually tripped the RCD constantly. Mine was from the paper round depot of the newsagents where I worked. There is still a barber's near me that has one of these lighting the window.

I own a 4ft and an 8ft one..

I've only ever seen them in 4ft and 5ft and had wondered if there was ever an 8ft. Mine is the high power factor model. The only thing i don't like about it is that the spine is a bit rough, its has what can be best described as fine groooves too the surface!
