Thats right, these don't stop the lamp cycling so get hotter and hotter until it goes up! I gather some blow the fuse before it fully ignites, while others just go up in flames taking the whole lantern with it!

As disgusting as all other LED lanterns trying to fit that "smart gadget" aesthetic. For real, the Chinese "leaf" lantern with the big lenses underneath looks better

The ignitor fires have nothing to do with not cutting EOL lamps and everything to do with incompetent choice of components and potting material. As for blowing fuses, an ignitor has no way of blowing a fuse directly. What they could do is short the ballast output, burning it until it develops a short between turns or a ground fault
