Atlas XJ2040
The original design of the later 2DXJ16 came from Atlas. Made with a thin base, The fitting was capable of taking up to two 40w GLS lamps. Very uncommon now by today's modern standards, most being removed because of the very aged look these give.

I think these look awesome with clear GLS lamps in, the patterns on the ceiling used to mesmerise me as a kid. I'd happily stick one of these up instead of the 2d bulkhead in my bathroom

I fitted one of these in our bathroom in the early 80s with 3 x PL9 conversion just new on the market. It's still in daily use and been through countless tubes. The glass is a dead weight and of course cannot go yellow, so still looks like new. I still love the look of this fitting.

You know its funny you should mention your conversion job, as I myself have been sorely tempted to convert this to 4X9w PL. I really like these fittings also, they look dated but in a good way.
