GEC 3' gull wing restored, complete and lit.
Today, after I had finished reassembly, a bit of power was applied to the gull wing, for the first time since entering my collection, and as a restored item. This to me is what makes restoring the fitting worth it, when its lit and doing exactly as it should. Despite its use, abuse and abandonment, it still lit first time, and is as silent as the church mouse. Beat that LED. I will now work to install the fitting and keep it out of harms way. For now, I can relish the though that I've given a once rusted out and almost dead light, a second chance at life. The ballast is yet to be restored, but has been refitted to the fitting to get it working until a time when I find a perfect colour match. Its also hoped I can find the original label too, which sadly is absent from the fitting

Looks a very nice restore job but I was never a fan of these tbh. Don't see why they go for mega money n eBay!

what did you use to fill the rust pits in the metal? car body filler and hours of flatting off afterwards? thought about doing mine that way, but never had the time to try one to be honest, excellent job by the way, looks like its been stoved
