Osram 2000W HQI-T/N Sports stadium Metal halide lamp lit at full power
if you thought the 1000W Metal halide lamp was bright you aint seen nothing yet! the Picture does not do this lamp justice

the lamp is ungodly bright!, im pretty sure I could use it to send morse code messages to the ISS during the daytime! it also kicks out an impressive amount of heat.

I could probably light it up at 3AM piss off the entire neighbourhood, and attract every insect from across the entire UK to my window LOL

it puts out a whopping 200,000 Lumens!, I Have had this lamp for a few years now, but I have only now been able to run it up to Full power thanks to the 2 1Kw Ballasts I managed to score which I posted about earlier :) I ran it by putting both of those ballasts in parallel. (normally this lamp requires a big old 400V mains Choke)

I actually had to run it up part way on 1 Ballast first then switch in the second ballast once it was partially warmed up, as if I had fired it up from cold with both ballasts the inrush current would of blown the arse end out of the 13A fuse in the plug LOL.

A new 250w MH lamp is pretty hard to look at when at full brightness. This thing would probably cause permanent eye damage!!!

@kev sadly I cant make it to the meet as I have no mode of transportation and I dont think anyone is swinging by London... Sad as for the power leads thing, I only had 1 Free 13A socket sadly (I really need to improve the socket situation in this room LOL)

@fluorescent Yeah I can handle bright lights pretty well, but this one was quite a blinder! I find looking through a DVD acts as a good poor mans ND Filter and lets you get a nice detailed look at the arc stream and grab some ace photos Smile

Great you got those ballasts. In the equipment i got from ELTAM there is an Aluminum box with #10 welding filter window, for putting over the lamp and viewing the arc. Though it would not fit over a lamp of this size
