I don't think Venture lamps are bad tbh, maybe 'back in the day' they didn't last quite as long as the bigger brands, but today they're just as good, if not better at the minute what with even the likes of Philips lamps often being garbage

Got the last 400W one from our local store today, CED branded in my case though. Shame folks have been saying these seem to green out pretty quickly though

We had a draw full of Ediswan 80watt mercury lamps, (venture made), for our building Piazas at work, I replaced all of them with said lamps, (noting they were all new, none used), and they ALL greened out within the first year!, me thinking it was a poor grade of phosphor Venture had used, was surprised when I took them all out, only to find the discharge tubes had gone black!!, after this they all got changed for SON-I

I think I gave them to Danny?, Venture’s SON are fairly good lamps, their SON-Is are not, however you can’t knock their halides! Cool

That's a shame. I'm going to put one or two of them 80w CED lamps (which I think are venture) into use in some fittings at work to see how long they last. The only 80w fittings at work still in use are lit 24/7, so it'll be interesting to see how long they last there

Checked my local today. No where has the 80w left, however they had 5 of the 400w at 6.50 and 4 of the SON E/I which i had 2 of

Done a bit of digging and Darlington Store has 4 of the 80w MBFs left.
