Today's Saves - Thorn, GE & SLI 4, 5 & 6' Tubes
Dropped off about 20 dead tubes today. Didn't get to rummage too far in the lamp bin as there was one of them power mad attendants on site who wasn't too happy about anything, you know the type. Bin was pretty empty anyway, nothing special immediately noticeable so just quickly grabbed these. They all work fine and look like they'll put in some more hours! Nothing too special but still better than being scrapped :-)

I'd love to save stuff from my local tip but the power hungry sad bastards don't allow it especially this miserable bitch who thinks she needs to be even more of a twat than the blokes to make up for being a woman. Mad Rolling Eyes

@Andy, lol! ...and yeah my most local tip can be funny about it, and the lamp bin's in clear view. There's a recycling site slightly further away that's much better, I can spend ages in the lamp bins there and they're never bothered, or just don't notice as the bin's tucked in the corner out the way Very Happy

Those SLI T12 are really strange tubes. I picked one up from a lamp bin for Liam a few weeks back. It looked clear. I tested it and it was EOL! There was absolutely no signs of EOL it was crystal clear! It was not even black

That's because they're crap. They have that tiny 'stick' cathode that has bugger all emitter. I suspect the one you acquired will have been used 24/7 and used up all of it's emitter over 3-4 years or so, hence very little blackening but EOL

@Danny it did go black as soon as it got SRS treatment LOL.

I thought it might. It only seems to be the 6ft and 8 foot ones that go wierd at EOL. Ive seen the shorter 2’ 4’ 5’ ones get one hell of a sock at EOL though

The only SLI that was common around here and in School was the 6' but all those got massive socks at EOL, as for the 5' the only EOL SLI 5' T12 ive seen was the ones in the Eveready canteen. Cant think of anywhere where i've seen 2' & 4' SLI T12 in use tbh
