Had a single lampholder a bit like this, it cleaned up nicely! Going to use it for SLI/H lamps as it won't mind the heat as much as modern ones will!

Sounds like a fine use for them! These have cleaned up incredibly well also, showing no real discolouration or signs of heavy use despite their 50+ year age, and the dry & dusty knackered paintwork on the fixture indicating these have done mega hours.
