Old Ceramic Terminal Block - Made in England This was in an old fluorescent fitting I acquired, can't remember which one. They really, really don't make them like this any more! This thing is very heavy (for what it is) and uses a lot of brass. I have no idea what current this is rated to carry, but I'd bet it would carry 40 amps all day long without even getting warm.

They’ve even gone through the effort of offsetting the hole in order to get the most threads for the screws.

Yeh these old ones are cool. Unlike the wholesalers latest option where they have like a little U shape inside instead of round and the cable goes to one side really poor i sent them back!

I know exactly the ones you mean Kev & they're utter dangerous crap. Even if you manage to get the cable under the screw, it often comes loose with just a small amount of movement. They also have a habit of shearing the copper of the cable.

Proper old school electrical bits, but the WAGO connectors we have today are a lot better Cool

Wago's are good like, especially when combined with their proper boxes.

Can't say I've used any yet but I've only heard good things about Wago type connectors. I will be ordering some to try out at some point

That's like our oldies, except in ours the main bit was square cross section. In the old ones every little thing was done with perfection down to nicely rounded off ends of the screws. Today you can find good terminals (with proper brass machined inserts, protective plates, and such) but you have to search for the high end stuff to get them. Or else you get the U stuff
