Mazda/BTH 125w MB/V lamp with pearl finish

Something I came across quite by chance the other day and managed to snatch up very quickly! This lamp is quite similar in construction to my slightly older "Mercra" lamp of the same wattage. Sadly the box is rather tattered (I photographed the best side here!) but it's done well to survive up until now. Pardon the naive question, does the /V stand for vertical burning only?
