An old Thorn Gamma 5 lantern
Spotted outside the ground of a school in London - this lantern was in the best condition of the 5 or so present. The rest either had the bowls duct-taped to the spigots or were missing their bowls entirely! Safe to say the lanterns probably hadn't worked in a large number of years.

A few of these (on a private install) still exist near me. They look to still be running mercury. The majority were replaced a few yrs back, but some still remain for now.

My secondary school that was built in the 70s also had those, in fact it seems that someone had used a Thorn catalogue for the lighting as it was all pop packs, arrowslims, some thorn track spotlights with par lamps and also recessed incandescent lights in the corridors.

Probably find the council had a conrtract with Thorn, who'd have designed the entire installation, obviously only using their own products
