4ft 40W T12 Switch start Atlas Superslim Popular pack batten & Atlas 40W Double life White fluorescent tube

found this a while back in the back of the garage of the seller from whom I picked up a case of Sylvania 65W 25-740 from, of course I could not leave it behind! I am quite pleased to have this as I have wanted a single tube superslim for quite some time now, they have both a unique spine profile and rather unique lamp holders

this fixture had no tube when I got it, but I did by chance just before getting this fixture pick up some nice Atlas Double Life White 40W 4ft T12's from Andy which is quite likely the exact sort of tube it would of had when new, so I thought it would be most fitting to pair the 2 together :)

as you can see the fixture works perfectly, I would expect nothing less from a superslim :)

We had two of these in our old garage. They had the old black can style ballast like this. They got skipped when the garage was rebuilt in the late 90's before I knew any better!

That batten is in excellent condition for a Superslim as they are prone to rust. That tube suits it just perfectly! Smile

Thanks! what would yall recommend for polishing it up? I have heard Brasso can be used to clean battens up, but I have never tried myself Yeah I had to pair it with the Atlas tube, I was quite tempted to put some unusual tube in it, one of my foreign 40W T12's something thats probably never been in a superslim before, but you know since I had the proper atlas tube it just would of been rude not to complete it Smile

I use Autosol metal polish on battens, cuts through all the 'crud' on the surface of the paint and leave it nice and bright again, provided the paint isn't too thin or you risk polishing through it! I then give them a going over with Autoglym super resin polish to bring up the shine and give the paintwork a glossy silky feeling. Most of the battens I have posted that are used and needed polishing up have had this process done to them Cool

I also found with my own superslim restoration that as the lamp holders had gone a slightly beige/yellowed colour where exposed to light, so disassembling them and giving them a sanding with a high grit paper and then polishing back with Autosol brought the plastic back up to its nice original grey colour, and restored the slight shine/smoothness to the surface too.
