While waiting at Helsby railway station, I noticed one of these nice Philips SGS203 lanterns had a 150w Venture White-Lux quartz metal halide lamp who's arc tube had exploded and punctured the outer envelope!

Venture are pretty hardy, it must have been ‘beyond blue’ whatever state it was in?

Yeah whatever it was I expect it was pretty far from 4000K/740! Which makes me wonder, did Venture ever make these ones in 3000K/WDL? I only ever seem to see them in cool white.

When the 50w SON in my patio light carks it, I might run a Venture halide to destruction and see how many hours that clocks up!

Bet you it reached the paki shop purple before going bang. Really surprised it’s just shot a hole in the lamp rather than blitzing it altogether though! They really should have shielded the arc tubes in these
