I always thought the liteguard refered to the shield used in the lamps but this t5 has no shields so im left wondering what it actually means

That is EXACTLY what I used to believe back in the 1970s when the brand was introduced. It just took an Endura-made specimen to prove me wrong. I was around 9/10 and had only seen T12s in the brand up to Thorn.
