Metropolitan Vickers 'Metrovick' 200/210v 5ft 80w Choke

Here you see the ballast fitted in a Metropolitan Vickers 5ft 80w bayonet cap fluorescent fitting. Note this is for use on 200/210v supplies, but it has a BLI converter choke fitted in series so it can be used on a 240/250v supply.

what an a great looking choke, check that writing on the label ! very early 50's GEC in style that choke. is it loud?

This could very well actually be made by GEC. I've seen this style before with other brands printed on it.

The picture makes it look smaller than it is, it is a hefty lump lol.

Don't know why it's 210v, it came from an industrial type place that may have had it's own transformers on site so possibly they were just old ones when this was fitted??

It's not loud. I suspect this hasn't had a lot of use looking at the condition of the paint etc.
