How come you mount your ballasts externally? Is this just for ease of maintenance?
Partly that, but my first 70 watt SON installation I had on the front, (a modded Beta 5), had the ballast inside it, during one aging lamps life, it began rectifying causing a very loud rattling on the gear tray, you could hear it in the house and it started to draw attention to people walking past! That’s when I started putting them in the loft!
, it also keeps the weather and cobwebs off them too.

I see! That makes sense

Isn't Magnetek a US manufacturer?

I believe they’re German now, going off the GmbH , although this was made in Italy?
