Magnetek back in

Dug out my Magnetek ballast again, this was previously running one of my coach lights when they were 50s, ignitor is in the lantern.

How come you mount your ballasts externally? Is this just for ease of maintenance?

Partly that, but my first 70 watt SON installation I had on the front, (a modded Beta 5), had the ballast inside it, during one aging lamps life, it began rectifying causing a very loud rattling on the gear tray, you could hear it in the house and it started to draw attention to people walking past! That’s when I started putting them in the loft! Shocked

, it also keeps the weather and cobwebs off them too.

I believe they’re German now, going off the GmbH , although this was made in Italy?
