Here are some lovely carbon lamps recently purchased on Ebay, which probably date from the latter half of the 1910's. These lamps serve two purposes - decoration, or for use in photographic darkrooms.

Or they could have been for ship navigation lighting Smile and they are slightly older than the green Cryselco one Cool as they have the exhaust tip Smile again these are extremely beautiful

Thank you! Yes, I think these are slightly older than the green lamp given the pip. It's possible these were navigation lamps I suppose!

They could have been used for other night time applications - especially on ship bridges/control rooms. Also for observation towers where the use of red light not only preserves night vision but to light up the area discreetly
