Philips 18w Trueforce CorePro LED HPL: Full power
Decided to give this lamp a test in a Thorn Piazza to see how it looks in a fitting.
I have bypassed the fitting's 50w SON gear so that the mains goes straight to the lampholder.

It's quite bright!
Certainly looks very realistic but you can tell it is not an MBF lamp, the light has a much better CRI.
It also doesn't have that slight pinkish tint of a brand new MBF lamp nor does it have that greenish tint of a well used one either.
Just glancing though, you'd not even notice that this wasn't HID. I quite like these indeed!
One thing to note however, this is marketed as an 80w MBF replacement but it uses the larger outer envelope of a 125w MBF so it might not fit in all lanterns or fittings. I was going to try this in a classic Thorn SONPAK but it was slightly too large.

They do seem decent lamps but I prefer the Ledvance ones due to their more reasonable size.

@FSB: Are the Trueforce a bit on the too long side?

Interesting. If you;d not said it was LED, my first guess would have been halide. Just a shame these lamps are so late to the party. I'd rather re-lamp something with one of these as opposed to install a non-repairabler LED version of the fitting.

Yeah these Philips ones are quite large. If the fitting can't accept a 125w MBF then it won't fit.
