I had one of these in nightly service a few years ago, and was quite surprised after 2 years to find the ‘balls’ on the electrodes completely melted away!, they tend to eat away at the electrode rods until it changes the arc distance, then the lamps become unstable!, although it did keep its colour right to the end

Interesting to hear that. It is a hell of a compact arc tube for 150w! They only claim 6000 hours for these!

The halide chemistry is tin-indium-thallium-sodium. The tin causes the discharge to cover the whole arctube, and is also have an afterglow after switch off.
