Philips CDM-R111 vs Sylvania ESD111 1
Two 70w R111 metal halide lamps side by side.
On the left is a Philips MASTERColour CDM-R111 and on the right is a Sylvania BriteSpot ESD111.

Both have 24 degree beam angles and both are 3000k colour temperature with the Philips having a CRI of 85 and the Sylvania boasting a CRI of 90 which is interesting as the Philips is a ceramic lamp and the Sylvania is a quartz lamp.

I do think the dichroic reflector looks far better than the plain pressed aluminium one sported by the Philips.

The open design of the Philips lamps, especially the 70w version does have a problem. Hot convective air currents cause dust to be deposited onto the reflector which then becomes baked on over time and lowers efficiency.
