Nice old tube! I do the same with caravan fitting's supplied with old tubes, modern Crompton's are for that sort of usage Smile

I've had battery lanterns with nice tubes also, the best was a 1976 Atlas. People buy them for emergencies that never happen and decades on, sell them in an unused state.

There are some lovely vintage lamps hiding away in places like that! I've had some early 70's Philips TL8W/33's supplied with some NOS Labcraft fittings, the fittings are actually decent and don't run the tube with cold cathodes at all in normal use, but one flat battery would probably still harm the lamps.
In a similar way some NOS emergency lights also come with nice old tubes that are best swapped before installation of the fitting!
