Osram Ultramed 2000W 380V
The Osram ultramed 2000W is powerful uv lamp used for sun simulation and photochemical process. It is bare arc tube Metal halide intended to be operated in echoes fittings. The Lamp has an impresive UV-A output of 490W and an UV-B output of 60W. Due to the lamp being of the bare arc tube design this lamp will also emit UV-C.
It is believed that most applications for this lamp are curing and hardening plastics paints and coatings, however not much is realy known about that.

You can also nicely see the white heat reflective paint used in this lamp. While looking not so fancy like e new philips lamp, this dating is much more durable.

Sadly I was not able to fond any meaningful datasheet for these lamps. While osram still have similar lamps under the supratec name it sortiment, it seems like datasheets are now written by sales people rather than engineers with the the resulting misleading informations.
The datasheet lacks a spectrum for this lamps or any electrical lamp characteristics. It also staes that this lamp is suitable for suntanning but i think that may be more accurate for the smaller 300w and 500w lamps.

I beliefe that this lamp needs to be operated an a phase to phase 2000W MB choke with external ignitor connected.

this lamp was manufactured in November 1993 at Osrams special HID lamp works, the Radium plant Wipperfürth germany

Probably a better lamp than the modern ones where the ends explode.

Yes this is a very high quality lamp. Which lamps do the ends explode? I was not aware of that. I know from some lamps that the electrodes fall of tho

What is the halide chemistry of this lamp?
Alex   [04 Mar, 2025 at 08:10 AM]
Id like to know that as well. Sadly test bench not finished yet, wanted to finish it this winter most likely will get done next winter. The i can measure the lamps spectrum. I can't find any spectrum the internet so difficult to tell the chemistry of this lamp

@Kev: Your lamps are for stadiums. This one is for suntanning.
