Does anyone else have any of these Primavision ballasts kicking around? If so you may as well just dump them now.
Seems they don’t like sitting around very much I had a stack of these in 60W cosmo I tested them in 2021 and now they are all bar one dead either explode or just do nothing total junk give me an ignitor and a stack of copper / iron any day of the week.
Doesn’t matter what lamp type if you have these black box Philips ballasts your fucked.

Not good, guess these are potted too so no chance of repair. My Urbis Evolo has one of these in 150W SON, good job I have some spare magnetic gear on hand!

Remember that meet we put your CDM highbays up above your Peugeot and went through about 6 of these?

Damp electronics?, that’s a real shame, especially them being Cosmo ones Confused

Interesting. You'd think moisture would not be a problem since these are potted. I did think that at first because didn't Kev loose a load of R7 halides where the lead wires in the caps were corroding?

It is a worry that this will become an issue for the fluorescet HF gear too, though at least those can be opened for a possible repair.
FrontSideBus   [15 Apr, 2026 at 05:01 PM]
I don't think it will be an issue if they are being used tbh.
Beta 5   [15 Apr, 2026 at 05:06 PM]
That's the thing, it's the spares in storage for use in the future that are the worry! Could be pretty old by the time they come to be used.

Capacitors can dry out and IC's do pack up!
Beta 5   [15 Apr, 2026 at 06:41 PM]
Indeed possibly what has happened here, though at least dry capacitors can be replaced if not potted!

It’s not damps as these are potted for one and 2 since 2021 I have had AC in my room keeping it nice and dry over the shit months. We had one of these the other day when we out power to it expand! It went like a puffer fish! Stoner and Davy have had the same issues

All scrap then sadly Neutral best go back to magnetic gear, though is that even possible with Cosmo?
