400w Osram NAV-T Super XT: The *best* high pressure sodium lamp ever made?
1 x Osram 400w enhanced efficacy high pressure sodium lamp.

Probably the best SON lamp range ever made?

These Super XT lamps were designed for extended service with a relamping schedule of 8 years at 11 hours per day and a greatly improved lumen maintenance.

These lamps boast an impressive survival rate of 95% to 28,000 hours. 90% to 34,000 hours and an amazing 48,000 hours to 50%!

They are also quite bright too at 56,500 lumens... that's the same as a 1000w MBF lamp!

These are no longer made so it stands to reason that this was the pinnacle of commercialised high pressure sodium technology?

It took me quite a while to track one of these down and I ended up having to import one from France!

Interesting. I've heard that generally 400w SON weren't as good on average as a 70w and 100w SON in terms of lifetime. Would be interesting to see one of these lamps after the 50k hour mark (if it survived that long).

They score a rather impressive Lm/W figure too, so basically better in every way than what they all got replaced with...
