How I modified my GEC Z9554 to take 90W gear in head. Some diy plates made a perfect fit with plenty of places to secure the gear. The ignitor has since been replaced with one in better condition.

No they didn't. The 554(M) and 564 were remote geared only. The ballasts of the time I think were too big to fit in these slim lanterns. The 'diamond bowl' could be gear in head for 90w, but I think the only 135 and 180 integral gear lanterns GEC did were the Brick range.

Thanks! My true inspiration was an LG post showing a genuine one in NZ. And the screw for this one that holds the lampholder bracket on had sheared so I couldn't put a 135 back in anyway.
