2015 Osram HMI Event 1200W Quartz metal halide lamp

2015 1200W metal halide projector lamp for immediate hot restrique, compact fixtures and long life launched by Osram in 2015 for the Event industry. These lamps are basically a refined version of the standard HMI 1200W SE UVS. You can see the specially doped quartz envelope to block UV radiation is glowing blue.

The lamp is run on an ARRI 575/1200W electronic ballast with external ignitor. The square wave operation at 50Hz is rather loud and can become annoying with time.

I've never seen an HMI lamp with UV protection. Most quartz jacketed HMI and generally most quartz jacketed short arc MH lamps, don't have UV protection. So this lamp isn't dangerous, right?
Also: Why it operates at 50hz and not at 80-150hz. The horrible LED flickering is square wave as well.

The big ones of these I've seen in operation have gearboxes that look like MIG welding sets! Laughing

dor 123 most HMI lamps with outer enevelipe become UV protection around 2010. It operates at 50Hz as I wished the ballast to operate the lamp at 50Hz. I could also set it at 60Hz or flicker free…
