70w BLV HIT-DE COLORLITE
70w BLV doubled-ended coloured quartz metal halide lamps in Magenta, Green, Blue & Orange.

The Magenta is more of a pink to be honest and the others are quite light shades of their respective colours. Orange is more of a peach as there is quite a bit of red content in it.
Saturation levels are 18% for magenta, 35% for green, 60% for blue and 51% for orange.

Interesting to note that the 150w versions have far high saturation levels.

Like with all BLV doubled ended halides in my collection, the caps seem to be incredibly fragile.

Orange is peach because of the blue and green mercury lines, which are very strong, as a result of the high mercury pressure in low wattage MH lamps.
I've an Aliexpress 20000K/blue 70W MH lamp with very high blue saturation .

Impressive lamps. What is the purpose of coloured halides like that? My first guess is some kind of art display but I'm not sure.

The purpose is for a small scale architectual lighting. The blue one is very suitable for aquariums.
And it is strange that FrontSideBus orange lamp have uneven heat reflecting coatings despite it was made by a known manufacturer. Not expecting that.
The orange lamp can be called commercial engineering sample.

More likely they were using burners rejected for white light operation but are suitable for coloured lamps. I mean who cares when they are heavily colour shifted anyway!

the fragility of these lamps is one reason why i build the adjustable r7s jig…
