Philips 17w Master LEDbulb MV: Full Power & Thermal Profile
1 x early Philips diode pumped remote phosphor lamp at full power.
The lamp is quite glaring as all of the light is emitted from the comparatively small phosphor panels.

This lamp runs HOT!!! I can only hold my fingers against the side of the lamp for less than one second before being burned!
The inside of the heatsink fins are well over 70'c with the hottest part being the heatsink sections between the phosphor panels!

It's interesting how this lamp, at the time was hailed for its efficiency but there are now "LED filament" designs that produce twice the light for half the wattage and that barely get warm!

It goes to show how far LED efficiency has come since the early days of LED. A modern 18w T8 on HF gear would probably be a close competitor in terms of efficiency. How much different are the temperature readings if the lamp is operating cap down?

This was a nice even heat distribution achieved by Philips with these!
