yes the grey siders allways had these black rounded corner chokes in them with the paper lable, i like this gear, it looks good, although saying that i have known a couple in the past to blow, and the SRS ones i have had several blow, that could be down the the fact they were derelict finds though in long term damp

Them Thorn chokes are the boss of control gear! Cool

No these do blow all be it after 40 years hard work. The better ones are the top type I've known these have stuck starters for years on end and just be fine I have never ever had one of the top type fail ever!!!

The only drawback with the later white type was the push in cable terminations, these can work loose and burn out in fittings that have heavy use and get hot
AngryHorse   [01 Sep, 2015 at 08:44 AM]
Yeah, it was the top one I was on about Kev Cool

Love the old black bricks! But i have to agree with Rich and KEV, iv had one of those black ballasts blow on me before and god they stink the place out as for the white ones they just go on and on even after left on a stuck starter for 4-5 years (as iv seen before) and work fine with new tube.
