Looks like it's in fire inside lol. Personally I never saw the point of maintained emergency lights that get used normally, because what good is it if the power goes out and the lamp is EOL?

Interesting fitting, I wonder who makes it. Maintained emergency lights are used to make people familiar with the exits and it means the exits at also lit even if the power doesn't go off. Tubes can still burn out with non-maintained fittings from power cuts, tests and some NM fittings pre-heat the ends all the time.

I think the emergency lights in this restaurant don't get any maintenance. Another had a completely cooked (EOL) tube and another was tubeless!

You can see why they are so inefficient... with half the lamp being taken up by the electrodes. I bet there is more losses in the electrodes that light output!
