Yes had this several times, most recently a nice BLI 20W blue that just randomly died. Had Thorn 2D's do it too. it's always the nicest ones that it happens to

It’s really common in 2Ds even in fittings!

|
Luckily all the others seem ok

Reparable?

I've lost count at the amount of 2Ds I had where the wires have rusted and come off flush with the tube, even had it happen to ones which were in use. Had this happen to CFLs too.

To be fair this is the first one I have known this happen to!

I had a GB GE 16w 4p do it too, that had been sitting under a leaking shed roof when I got it. Guess damp/humidity in storage does for them? If it becomes a real issue would opening them up and painting some lacquer on the lead ins stop it?

I dunno but I am worried about the rest of my 2Ds now as they have been in that green barn for years as I said though it’s only this one I have ever known do that which pisses of off. I did grab a bunch last night and tested them out they were fine. But I’m thinking the rest need going through

Well try and sort them out when I come down. Try get enough racking for these and also the pl and CFLs etc. I’m worried about your 6 and 8ft mostly
