Classic combo MBF and SON I together, often saw streets like this where mercury lanterns had been relamped with SON! I've had that with a Venture SON I before too, multiple firings from the starter before it struck whereas other brands go on the first try.

The NEC used paired SON/MBF High-Bays for years! Gone now though.

2 of the best ballasts ever made there rich. Good gear!

I was going to put my other Thorn on here for the SON, but sadly it wouldn’t fit, and I didn’t want to go in to work just to cut another piece of tray!
, I was always a fan of halide/son, but I definitely think they go better with mercury lamps! MBF right next to the spectra of HPS gives them an unearthly glow

The Venture was a brand new lamp with all but about 4 hours run on, but it seemed to be striking quicker now with more use, it’s also got a surprisingly superior colour for an elliptical lamp than the ‘modern’ Chinese Crompton SON-E I have!
