Unbranded 13w daylight gold capped tube in caravan light I like to keep an eye out for some of the more unusual low voltage fluorescent fittings as used in caravans, motorhomes and boats. Shame the inverters are so often instant start which doesn't do the lamps much good. This one is a bit unusual being gold capped and is marked 6/77 implying that it was manufactured in June 1977. The fitting however is from 1989, made by a German company called Wipo.

Looks like the classic blocking oscillator driver.

That is an interesting tube. I'm sure I've seen similar before but can't remember who made them. It's possible the tube is older than the fitting.

Nice tube, but personally I dislike these fittings due to the terrible way they drive/abuse tubes. Caravans & motor homes etc that use lighting like this are one of the few places I'd happily recommend a change to LED Confused ..That is unless you can get proper drivers that fit in these casings now-a-days?

I always have a look for those caravan lights. The old Lumo and Labcraft ones can contain nice Sylvania tubes.

You can convert them to 230VAC gear and power the entire lighting setup from inverter
