Huge 10 lamp fluorescent suspended luminaires
|
I was in the Cunard Building* in Liverpool last night and I spotted these massive suspended fluorescent fittings in one of the main halls.
They were having a craft market inside and I decided to have a look around.
They are quite large and each fitting has 10... yes, 10! T8 fluorescent lamps in them. The lamps are at least 5t and might even be 6ft!
They are still actually fluorescent too but a few of them have one or more failed lamps in them.
There are six of these big luminaires in the main hall and many others off to the sides.
*The Cunard Building is a Grade II listed building in Liverpool, England. Together with the neighbouring Royal Liver Building and Mersey Docks and Harbour Building, they form Liverpool's famous "Three Graces" along the city's waterfront at the Pier Head.
Constructed between 1914 and 1917 it served at the head office of the Cunard Steamship Company until 1965 when the building was sold due to the decline of the trans-Atlantic passenger liner trade following the introduction of new jet propelled airliners.
