150w CU Phosco P456 replacement job
The owner of this site got in contact with me regarding their car park lighting in much need of a repair.

Knowing at least two had been out of light for 6 years and missing their bowls, suggested two lanterns needed replacement.

It was decide to make things easier to swap the P456 globes for second hand Urbis ZXU1s running 70w SON E lamps.

On the day we discovered not only did 2 have dead gear and two needing igintors, all their bowls had become brittle with age / the heat of burning 150w SON E lamps!

Also only one globe worked so very over due a repair.

Needless to say this was a very good replacement installtion, not only did we save the owners wattage, we have made the whole car park and walk areas better lit!

As much as I like globes, in this instance these new ones are better at getting light where it is really needed.

And the offcut of the optic on the ZXU1s is amazing.

The globes are quite iconic but these lanterns make much more efficient use of the light by directing it downwards.

Definfitely Andy, we would of kept the globes if we could! Still, they are with me and Cobbett now, and today i asked a friend for some of the MK globe bowls, so fingers crossed we can make these mint again Smile

I really love those transparent globes with the complicated glass refractor rings and metal louvres in them.
