Holophane Duo Dome
A very recognisable and rare lantern from Holophane is the Duo dome, and what a lantern it is. Featuring a cast aluminium canopy, enamelled reflector and the characteristic 'duo dome' refractor ring, the lantern arrives in impeccable condition.

It does appear to have gone without a lamp for some time, as both sprung contacts have seized, and all of the screws have seized with exception to the three wing nuts that hold the over reflector to the gallery. Its incredibly overengineered, even down to the tag explaining the orientation the lantern should face. At some point in the past, the lantern was painted black all over including the reflector, which most people would go mad over, but in this case I was actually glad because its preserved the enamel beneath. Because its enamel, I was able to take a stanley blade to it to strip the black paint off without fear of damaging the enamel at all. Beneath it revealed perfect condition enamel, and once polished will look stunning.

Restoration will involve freeing and replacing all screws and nuts, and painting the gallery to the same colour as the enamel. For this I intend to get the enamel colour matched.
