Metropolitan Vickers SS51 restored

The Metrovick SS51 is finally restored, and I don't think the results could have been any better. The minicell in the canopy was filled in by way of cutting a small piece of cast aluminium to fit, and then hammered it into place effectively locking it in permanently. The canopy then saw a full respray inside and out with hammered silver paint, while the lamp holder assembly was simply polished with Brasso to bring out the anodised aluminium's shine. Even the screws saw some polishing. Once the paint dried sufficiently, I was then able to fit a new gasket and then complete reassembly of the lantern, including wiring in a push connector to allow easier wiring of the lantern for display purposes. Finally, it was time to fit the brand new replicated bowl Jonathan managed to source, signifying the end of another restoration.

Overall its been a very easy lantern lantern to work on, mostly down to its simplicity, there's absolutely nothing to go wrong with the lantern whatsoever, and the results speak for themselves. Plans for the future will be to restore the bracket I've now sourced for the lantern, and hopefully I can combine both to create a stunning collection piece.
