Soldi & Scatti - Solcam DSC1000 lantern on display column.
A few weeks ago, I managed to obtain a 1000w SON ballast for this Soldi & Scatti lantern, and quickly began working on building a gear tray for the ballast to fit to. On Dez's advice I added 100uf of capacitors to the tray, to do so I had to build a bracket to accommodate 4 25uf capacitors.

Fully wired, I wired and mounted the lantern to the column with a correct size 60mm bracket I acquired earlier in the year, and applied power to it.... And nothing.... Followed by a loud pop and fizzing from the inside of the lantern. Apparently the igniter decided to throw a fit from lack of use and spewed its guts all over the reflector...

So I had a failed attempt at lighting this behemoth, and was left needing a new igniter, and also have a small clean up job to undertake too...

Honestly, nor did I, so I had to get it when I saw it. Yes its massive, yes its awkward, but that's to be expected for a lamp as high powered as this.
