Seem to have gone with 3000K with all the LED replacements around here. Just a pity they're so dim compared to the Halide / Fluo / SON we used to have.

most seem to go for cool white LED, though the warm white now seems to be coming standard in many places, just a shame we have thousands of cool white ones allready, duff decision in the first place if you ask me

LED should have been a warmer colour temperature from the start! I don't think anyone liked the "blue" light they gave off.

Warm white is loads better. Our very first LED lantern, Urbis Sapphire 1s i saw the other day which were originally 6000k? To me seem alot bluer when i drove past them the other day. Need to go for a walk down the path to see if they all still work, considering they are getting on now for 9 years!

3000k Does look a lot better tbh. I was always a big fan of Cosmo for that reason tbh.

So what was the reason 4000K was the default colour for street lighting?, slightly warmer looks so much better?

Driving to McDonald’s on Friday night, I saw our FIRST ever 3000K LED street lighting installation on the new roundabout at the bottom of Winsford industrial estate, their being installed by a street lighting contractor called ‘Altitude’, I’ve never seen this contractor before, as it’s always been BAM Nuttall that has done new street lighting installations here!, the lanterns their using are that new version of the SLX from CRT

I wish 3000K LED lanterns were used more often in street lighting, they look so much more pleasing at night and much easier on the eyes than the ghastly 4000K that most councils seem to be obsessed with. The colour temperature is very similar to CMH. Good thing Northants (and possibly Cambs) will be using 3000K LEDs in their upcoming replacement scheme.
