Philips 860W CMH Lamp vs Philips 1000W QMH Lamp Oscilloscope capture
|
heres something Interesting I noticed with the 860W CDM is that it has a different waveform then what a normal US 1Kw Metal halide lamp
the 860W CDM is the top photograph and the standard 1Kw Philips Quartz metal halide lamp is the bottom photograph
the 860W CMH lamp has a much more HPS shaped waveform compared to the Mercury/QMH waveform of the 1Kw Standard lamp
(yes I know the scope has a screenshot function, but taking a quick photo while I have the camera out is easier, so bite me LOL)
it was also interesting to see how the lamp performed, since the ballast I have for M47/H36 High voltage 1kw Lamps is a Choke-Autotransformer ballast, and I imagine this 860W US lamp was mainly designed for US CWA ballasts, so I do wonder if Philips ever tested them HX ballasts, I have not noticed anything out of the ordinary other than the lamp current is a bit high, due to the lamps lower voltage drop, but I do still wonder if anyone at Philips thought about it or not!
