Crompton 4x5ft 65w Modular Fitting - Opened up

Not sure what model this is but it's definitely Crompton identified by the control gear and lamp holders. This thing is HEAVY, the cover is actual glass and the 4x starterless ballasts help tip the scales too.

As you can see it has a mix-n-match ballast arrangement. I think the black C422 is original, the grey C432 appears to have been a later addition. The pair of Parmar-Ventures were fitted by me as the other two C422's it came with were dead.

Cool that’s a big old beast of a fitting shame the ballasts were dead? Just lifeless or blowing fuses?

Dead, no sign of life but not blowing fuses or obviously gone into meltdown, very odd. I wonder if there's thermal fuses inside or something?

Hefty thing! Where would it've been used?

I'd guess for tall ceilings in hospitals or offices.

Unknown. The seller was an electrician so it'll have come out of a big old building somewhere that was being renovated
