Hilclare Wallpackette wannabe

I know at least a couple of people have asked about these before so thought I'd grab this one out of the skip at work to take a look at (spoiler alert: it's 'meh').

It has fairly thin casting, as you can see when I applied a very small amount of force onto the threaded door securing tab it snapped off! The threads on said tab are just made in the casting too, these will seize and get chewed up if not kept thoroughly greased. The door hinge is also just a couple of screws in the casting, not great but I guess it works. On the plus side the diffuser is glass.

Overall, these just feel like a very cheapened-down Wallpackette.

I think these are sold under a few other brands including Tamlite

I really like these. I tried saving 3 a while back but that ended up being unsuccessful sadly. I'm still on the lookout for one now.

They used to be assembled here by Gaash in 2 sizes (the small one identical to yours) and stand well to weather. Nowadays the small version, with Chinese made body that tends to fill up with water and LED insides, are imported in small quantities by other companies, i do have one of those LED versions with a smashed glass in collection. I would very much convert it to HID if i get a glass

I will have to have a look if this one says where it was made, would be interesting if it's a Gaash-made fitting! I'll keep an eye out for one in good condition Dave, this one's got a broken door securing tab :/
