Wow galvanised fittings wtf!
That's a brilliant idea no rusting there! Where and what is this cool place?
These are likely either a Thorn build for another company (I have some GEC SRS fittings that were actually Thorn made) or someone has been buying Thorn (BLI / TEI) components for use in their own fittings.
This fitting came from the same place and shares some near enough identical details and construction techniques. Kev's said it's a Courtney Pope, so these could be Courtney Pope also? If that's right then as you say they must have bought the BLI ballasts in
And presumably the lampholders too. Thorn did sell parts to others to use, earlier with no makers label on the control gear, but later 'exports' tended to be marked SB ' Smart & Brown'
Ahh yes I have some SB branded ballasts that are obviously Thorn. So Courtney Pope probably just bolted this fixture together using other manufacturers parts? I wonder if they did the steelwork forming and galvanising, or if that was outsourced too?
It's possible the fabrication of the steelwork was done by themselves, along with assembly. Could well be they just lacked the experience / plant to make the actual control gear....
