Osram Liteguard 65w White, Phosphor's Falling Off!

One of the tubes I acquired from this haul that actually works (they were mostly EOL through being hammered and/or damaged), although it does have a broken cathode. It works now I've shorted it out and it's nice & bright, however the phosphor is falling off in places as seen in the picture. Quite a few of the tubes were like this, I can only think its as they've been left unused in a cold & damp environment for so long?

They’ve been hit off something by the looks of it

That would also explain why even the tubes that appear little used have broken cathodes or have lost gas. In fact there was a few completely smashed tubes too, I guess when they took them down they just chucked them on the floor Sad

Yeah you can see little black dots (chips) in the middle of the parts where the phosphors missing. Definitly been thrown about sadly the shock of impact must shake the phosphor off. I’ve got a thorn made tube branded Crompton (the pretty etch type) and its in a absolute mess phosphor wise. These little holes all over and a cathode Out

Oh aye, didn't spot them before. Shame really, I reckon that 125w GEC I uploaded the other day would have worked if it hadn't been dropped, both cathodes were in tact & it wasn't that banded. The cathodes just fizzled out as it'd lost gas as probably had a hairline crack somewhere. Quite a few more have been like that including some Cryselco 65/80w Naturals Sad

That’s a thorn tube or atlas though I expect nothing less of them !
