NVC 'Arcatec' LED driver

A look inside an NVC Greenland 5ft 36w LED weatherpack reveals it has this NVC branded driver. Previously NVC battens used Osram drivers, so it's interesting to see their own branded stuff fitted now.

I noticed these fittings in the workshop at work so thought I'd take a closer look at them before they get installed to see what makes them tick.

A quick look on the NVC website confirms these fittings are rated to last 50,000 hours in an ambient temperature of 25 degrees C. I know where these are going and the ambient temperature is probably somewhere around there in winter, much higher in the summer so it'll be interesting to see how long they last.

Exactly my thoughts Kev, these do appear questionable. At least the previously used Osram branded drivers inspired a little bit of confidence.

How come it's only 36W when it says 49W on the ballast? It's not much saving on a 5' 50W electronic system. Have any failed yet?

The voltage output will vary depending on how many LEDs there are in the series string, note the 60vdc output here is the 'max' output. Less LEDs = lower voltage (at the constant current) = less power/watts.

I'll have a look next time I'm in the are to see how these are doing.
