60W UFO Crash!
They didn't make it :'-(
Reasonably wrapped but box needed to be much tighter.
Was refunded for it though so although it's a shame they are broken I can save the parts and build my own one.

PPP - Piss Poor Packaging. Leave a ton of space like that and it's never going to get there in one piece. I think some people still assume that all parcels are moved by hand, carefully at all times. If they could see this stuff being thrown around, slammed down automated conveyors and chutes, I think they'd possibly re-think their packaging methods a bit...

Sellers fault. Should of removed the glass from the fitting . The shade thread and tube has took the brunt of the force. The shade should of been wrapped seperately.

Keep in mind they were both separated by bubble wrap and the whole box was packed in with cloth, a lot of with is off screen. Shame non the less they look great even in pieces.

That's a shame. I have a spare glass cover you can have if you are coming to the meet?

The seller should have packed it tightly in packing peanuts or bubble wrap. I have had a few things damaged in post. Got an emergency light just put bare in a bag (it was damaged), a twin 18w weatherproof fitting with most of the clips smashed off.

That's alright, plenty of spare covers floating about oddly enough. It would be good to get a load of solder and make a tiffany-like cover or something weird for it. The crompton warm whites needless to say are also in pieces but I can order new tubes if I ever want to do a 60W fitting.

Quote lasagafield: "Keep in mind they were both separated by bubble wrap and the whole box was packed in with cloth, a lot of with is off screen"

Still looks like piss poor packaging even considering that, a bit of cloth will do bugger all. Couriers don't give a shit, everything is thrown around and they drive like maniacs with parcels flying around in the back of their vans. Should have had a minimum 25mm of bubble wrap around the glass shade and it should have been in a separate box within the parcel. The whole lot should have then had even more bubble wrap around it and been placed in a double corrugated box with a minimum of 25mm between the edge of the box and the item.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; if the item is tight against the edge of the box it is within, it might as well not be in a box at all.

Nice they refunded you though, as you say you can easily buy new tubes and you'll find a shade somewhere!

Bout right, couriers are only interested in targets, but I blame the company bosses for this, I’ve spoken to the ones that come to our place, the poor drivers are well aware of shit like this, but say they get heavily penalised for not getting x amount of parcels to there destination in the working day Mad

Real shame. Not just for the fitting but also the delivery drivers. There should be other services where for a few quid more you know you're parcel has better handling. It's hermes so if i'm not mistaken it should have an up to £20 damage refund so nobody looses out really but it is a shame. They're fitzgerald and all.
