Thorn Warm White 40W U T8 Fluorescent
Got 6 of these for £15.
Powered one up for you to see but it was only briefly as I only had a 30W ballast at hand.
Would love to build a proper fitting for these

I have some of these in plus white. I dont have the correct fitting, but do have a correct 40w gear tray with mag switchstart ballast. They are on eBay pretty cheap sometimes

I'm sure I could make a fitting easily enough. Kind of want this tube on display though. Remember seeing these years ago on crystal maze and always thought they looked great. Example here --> s8.postimg.cc/uzerv6rfp/utuebs.jpg

Smile these bring back fond memories, our school canteen had these in the corridor where you use to queue up for dinner.

These are great tubes! I don't know why you never see them. Why did shops stick with quad 20/18w panels when they could bung in a couple of these things? Hardly see them in the UK but they are massive abroad which is ironic as the factory these are from was in London.

I wish I could stop time, and go back to our school in the mid 80, could have 'mysteriously', unbolted the fittings Rolling Eyes, they were Thorn's own surface mounts for this exact lamp Wink

The amount of times i've wished I also had a time machine so I could have gone back and saved so many good fittings from the scrap. I remember when I was at at school and they were refurbishing it there was a large skip outside. I used to wait for the jobsworth staff to piss off and carry as much off home as I could out of it. Got loads of electronics out of it!
