indeed a regular 30W T8 choke is for lamps with 110V arc voltage and 330Ma lamp current. the 30W HO tubes would be best run as a pair in series off a 70W T8 choke (they are HO tubes, so double current but same arc voltage 800Ma 41V as apposed to 370ma 41V for a regular F14T12)

I was thinking just that. I got a 65W choke. It's cheeky but you reckon i'd get away with it?

you can try 2 in series off 1 65W choke but I imagine the tubes would be under-run some, if you have a Multimeter you could try various lamp and gear combinations see which gives you the closest to 800Ma

I'll let you know how it goes. If it goes well i'll build a casing for one of my double fitzy ends and make a proper fitting for them.
