Failed 36W/40W Tridonic magnetic ballast

Inside the Fitzy 40W T12 fluorescent fixture. Basically it went with a soft bang and tripped the circuit breaker when I plugged it

I wonder why that's failed? Doesn't look like it's been cooked with a stuck starter as the varnish isn't particularly brown or chalky and the terminal block doesn't look yellowed?

If this ballast tripping the circuit breaker, it shorting.

Not looking too brown, so if it's seen a stuck starter, it's not been for long. Sometimes you just get unlucky...

Could of been on a 3p supply with a lost neutral that sometimes causes this

Good point Kev, I don't imagine it would like that very much! Guessing that would also take the lamps out too?

Should be a nice little fix, you see so many fluorescent battens chucked away for less now, a simple ballast change will get this one going again Cool
